Wheel Steering Squeaking when turning left or right

Other problem that i have , is minor but wanted to see if anyone have the same and if you fix it.

I notice that while driving at low speed and if i turn wheel steering left or right
i get some low squeaking almost at the end of turn.

Anyone had this ,and it may be? a plastic touching other plastic within the steering column? or...

Thanks for your input.

I have a similar condition when the ambient temperature is below 35 degrees F. My squeak is from the left front strut bearing seal though. Not from inside the vehicle. As soon as we have a warm day, the noise is gone.

Check your power steering fluid, also spray some white lithium grease on the rack and pinion and wherever else you seem to hear the squeek.

If I remember correctly my 4.6 was making the same noise, I haven't driven it in so long due to the timing chain guides failing...lol! I got rid of the noise by spraying down the steering shaft with some old Valvoline synthetic lubricant I bought years ago. Start the car and turn the wheel in quarter turns or have a friend turn it while you spray, especially the joint, noise was gone. I didn't use lithium spray grease, too messy, PB Blaster is good to use also, it has good staying power. I see you're in Sacramento, I live in Sac also...lol! I see you've been posting a lot, is the X starting to drive you nuts? Seems like a lot of 4.6 owners are posting a lot, guess the old girls are getting to the point where it just won't be cost effective to keep them, I've yet to decide if I want to fix mine or move on and get a Grand Cherokee SRT8.

Steering wheel joint is a good troubleshooting check.

I notice you have become more subtle but the Debbie Downer message is still aways there. As strongly as you believe there is no sensible reason to own an E53, I don't understand why you have yet to decide whether on not to fix yours. Logic says you would have an SRT8 in your driveway a day after yours broke last November.

I don't see anything here that indicates the old girl 4.6s are problematic. In my case that has certainly not been the case.

I have to re-check exactly where the noise comes from , i hear it from inside , but never listen from the outside, like to have someone
inside and turn the wheel steering ,and me to be out side to check, hopefully if time permits will do this Saturday. And thanks for the advice in what to use.

Yes, i am few minutes away from roseville galeria mall , cross 65 , witch is rocklin!, and yes posting quite few posts in the last few weeks, looks like every small thing comes after me , is only minor things , and they need to be fix one way or the other.

This is my boss car (wife , as i do have a truck for work) , this is our 3rd x5 , all black , from 3.0 , 4.4 and now this 4.6 ,and this with the lowest miles by 100.000! and looks like this few small things that keep going bad, but i guess it will happen to any car owner, unless you keep it in the garage and don't drive it...! With the other 2 x5's had high miles, but not so many problems , like i do with the 4.6 , maybe bad luck... My wife , she loves the x5, and now she's trying to tell me ,maybe is time to move to a brand new american suv! , so is up to her if she wants to continue with this or just get some new car ! i think she got tired of all this small things that needs fixing all the time, anyway i live it to her as is her x5 , me later on when i will have a change i may get other x5 just for me.

So anyway, this is the life of the x5 , they are nice suv's but just a little more money to maintain!, o well...

Thanks,
