new rotors turning blue/yellow/purple
![]() what is this all about? Is this normal?both front sides developed this exact pattern..rears have a slight purple tint to them ...I bed them in tonight ..8 stops from 60mph-20mph...let them cool down after every session...did it 3 times..total of 24 hard stops...no squeal, smoke or shudder..i was wondering if the caliper might be the culprit. ![]() ![]()

Excessive heat, generated by pads, pad alignment, sticking piston, et al...
The bedding didn't go well, or the install was incorrect. Just guessing, but I have seen this on incorrect m'cycle brake rotor/pad r & r many times. GL, mD

Hard to tell from just viewing your pics, but I would want to replace the rotors, esp those nice slotted rotors.
Heat is the culprit; the cause could be a few things or combo of things. The shop screwed up, imo. Bedding, esp at 'our' speeds and braking force, won't/shouldn't cause that, esp if you don't come to a full stop and sit, after bedding/hammering them. GL with the arm wrestle.

I hope they will admit they screwed up and will get me new rotors cuz this whole brake job cost me over 1K.I am def not ready to throw more money at it just because some idiot doesn't know how to properly install them.

by the way, no full stop has been made while the brakes were still hot...did the normal routine and let them cool off like zeckhausen suggests...I only brought it in to have them do my brakes because I had a credit they issued from the last job (overpriced ), so I wanted to take advantage of it but now I see it more like a mistake;maybe I could have done a better job myself than taking it to a friggin' trained mechanic that knows squat
![]() sorry about the rant but im a bit mad right now...

That would annoy the balls out of me man.
Sometimes the only way to get the job done right is to do it yourself.

My thoughts are maybe they did not clean off the rotors before install . The oil on the rotors may have caused this .

Yes, those rotors are heat checked allright. They're scrap iron right now.

Seems more and more techs don't know/don't care about doing things right, yet the shops charge top dollar. I've learned to DIY EVERYTHING. My last brake job cost $420 for everything. $1k is big money for replacing pads/rotors (for that money I would have expected THEM to bed and inspect). When I bed in the BrakeLab rotors and Cool Carbon pads, I got a uniform straw/grey color on the rotor (across the entire width of all 4 pad swept areas). Followed this instruction..... Cool Carbon Performance Brake Pads It seems like your pads are not contacting the friction area near the rotor hats. That's not good!
