My ULF is 552 (1st generation). When I purchased the unit from Vaheh of Crevier, he indicated that 552 was the only unit he had in stock.

In any case, after installing the 552, I had it working with the V600. I had heard that V710 had problems but if I recalled correctly, Rangerfan had indicated that with 1.40 s/w, the problems with the V710 were fixed and the phone now pairs and the address book does transfer.

I am kinda lost and hopefully when I activate the V710, this problem goes away. Hopefully this is not just wishful thinking

I don't think I ever said anything about address book transfers, other than to reiterate that they DO NOT transfer on the V710 with the -552 module. If I did say otherwise, I am sorry for the confusion.

I must have read it wrong. If the V710 does not allow the transfer of address book with the 552 module (even with the phone with 1.40 sw), will the V710 transfer the address book if the ULF is upgraded to the 522 module?

If the 522 works, I will pursue upgrading my 552 to the 522.

The answer is NO! The V710 with 1.40OR firmware and -522 does pair and you can make and receive calls handsfree but no phonebook transfer.

The only module that works with the V710 in BMW are the BT/Assist module made by Motorola which comes with the 2005 BMWs.

The phonebook on the V710 with 1.40OR firmware will transfer with that BT/Assist module. They have a part number that ends in either -993 and now recently replaced with a part# that ends in -119.

Since the 993 BT/Assist module works, can I actually replace my 552 with the 993 but I will not use the Assist. And if this is possible, is the 993 a one for one replacement ... i.e. take out the 552 ULF and reinstall with the 993 with the same wiring

Another question. Since now we know that the V710 with 1.40 firmware pairs with the 522, is the V710 with 1.40 suppose to pair with the 552 (the unit I have) ?

I am wondering if I am just running into an abnormal situation. Based upon Jeff's previous comments regarding that V710 with 1.3 working with 522, to minimize any challenges, I may even look into down rev the firmware from 1.4 to 1.3 if it is possible.

Any ideas to my 1st point ?
