It depends on what programs you use and what you need from the Smartphone. However, for my line of work, the easy-to-use Palm OS is key to quick access to information. Also, most of my software runs on Palm OS. The Treo with Palm OS is much easier to use using with one hand with minimal need to use the stylus. The Windows PPC is not that easy to use. However, I agree with you that Palm needs to advance their OS design.

The specs in terms of speed and memory is virtually the same. I don't need WiFi but I do need EV-DO.

Next time, if you make a statement, you should clarify what you mean.

By the way, my statement is based on my experience on using various PDAs and phones. Currently, I do use my Treo 650 daily. Just curious, what smartphone or PDA are using to base your statements?

They sold the operating system because it was so good?

OK - I was having a tough time reading this thread - it was kind of jumping around - until I realized X54.4Blue post's were missing. I guess that's for another topic.

I've been a Palm user ever since Palm Pilot III so much of my daily routine has a reliance on Palm software (Agendus, Snapper Mail, Mergic VPN, plus countless games). But running 1 app at a time is getting way old. I am also fairly well imbedded in Treo phone technology.

I want EVDO, but I'm thinking it's getting near time to abandon Palm OS, but the 700w is not a suitable replacement. One hand navigation is more difficult on WinMobi2003 and from what I've seen of my colleagues VZ 700W, his phone crashes frequently compared to my 650. Instead of buying the 700p and locking myself into another contract for the discount, I think I hold off until a new Treo with WinMobi5.0 (or 6.0) is released. Maybe by then, Treo will find a way to add Wifi and GPS as well.

In the meantime, I'm going to have to find out how to keep all of the features that I currently receive for free (free Sprint mobile to mobile, free after 7PM, free unlimited SMS, free first minute for incoming) without losing them when I convert to a Power Vision plan. I figure I will be paying another $25/mo for these extras if I can't get them grandfathered into a new plan.

Yeah you get a check back for the new model but it is not a straight up trade and give you a check...new plan the 700 is $399-150 is a $250 which is not bad if your contract is up...I have a year left so tough nuts for me..so then the phone is $699 or $550.00....I guess I will be hanging on to it for a bit.
