retrofitted 84-11-6-964-114 in a 2005 325cic. module has built in SES

I picked up my 2005 325cic in April 05. Back when I ordered it I had no idea about how the assist module had built in bluetooth functionality.

After I recieved my vehicle I learned about the module and decided it was something I MUST HAVE! I purchased the assist/bluetooth module, antenna, antenna bracket and module bracket from BMW parts.

Today I finally had the foreman @ my BMW dealer sucessfully get it going ( took less than an hr ). My previous try with a regular tech was unsucessful! This foreman knew exactly what he was doing. He had to enter codes 639 and 633L into my car. If you go and have your vehicle done and mention these codes and get looked at like you have two faces, find someone who knows what they mean!

After my phone (V710 verizon with 1.40OR firmware) found the module, I entered my passkey. The phone book was transfered instantly. Though I heard it could take 45 minutes. The one thing weird with the phone book right now is it doesnt differentiate the entries. I dont know which are home, mobile, etc. I might rename them!

So while sitting in my car I decided to hold done the voice button on the steering wheel, and viola it beeps. After the beep it says "these are your available commands, please refer to the book for more" . COOL :)

Well this is it for now. If anyone has any tips, speak to me! :)

Congrats....I guess I should have waited and gotten the -114 module!

Anyhow, I'm glad you finally got it to work!

I'm picking up the M3 tomorrow after its Inspection 1 and supposedly Tom recoded the BT/Module so it won't call BMW Assist. Hopefully, that is the case.

And about the phone book, that is the way it is but at least it does transfer the phone book.

Just curious, how much was the -114 module?

I will find out Friday afternoon when I pick up the car.

The funny thing, the -993 was about the same price. Dang!

Anyhow, turn off your headlights and see if your BT/Assist module calls up BMW Assist.

Good to hear and you don't have the BMW Assist mirror right?

Well, if this happens again, then I'm going have them swap my module for the -114 module. :D

Update On Bt/assist Module Calling Bmw Assist

In the M3, I really did not want assist and plus, I wanted the M3 standard mirror. The M3 standard mirror is a nice oval mirror. The BMW Assist mirror for the M3 is the same rectangular one they use for the E46 3-series.

Apparently, Tom diagnosed it as "faulty coding in the LSZ Light Switching Center" and they recoded the LSZ. It seem to fixed the problem. If I turn on and off my headlights in the daylight, the BMW Assist does not call. However, once it gets dark, the BMW Assist still calls. Also, tonight, I was just playing with the interior light dimmer switch and when I dim the interior dashboard light to really dim, it also set off the BT/Assist module to call BMW Assist. Hmmmm, back to Crevier again. Maybe I need a new LSZ module. :dunno:

Also, since you were talking about Voice Recognition on the BT/Assist module in the previous post.....well, I decided to try holding on the "voice button" on the steering wheel and voila....it asked for a voice command! :wow:

However, now I am confused. I thought the -993 did not have voice recognition? But, I do have a possible explanation....First of all, my voice recognition only has commands to control the phone. I can't control the Nav system with it (even though I have NAV). So, it is not like the full SES commands that is built into the Visteon ULF module. However, the phone commands are all I need....You can store name and phone numbers in the BT/Assist's own phonebook and it doesn't matter which Bluetooth phone you use, with Voice Recognition, it will refer to the BT/Assist module's internal phone book like the SES. I also did digit dial with no problem. Interestingly enough, the BT/Assist voice activation is with a male voice! :dunno: In my X5, with the CPT 8000 and SES module, it had a female voice. My M3's nav system is a female voice.

However, why does my -993 have voice recognition? Well, I do remember that a couple months ago, they were still trying to solve my seemingly phantom BMW Assist calls. They thought the BT/Assist -993 module was faulty. So, under warranty, they replaced it with another BT/Assist module (now, I remember that I got a new BT Passkey). Also, at that time the -993 module were being phased out and being replaced with a -114 module. So....maybe my current BT/Assist module is a -114 which explains the voice activation. One of these days, I will check which BT/Assist module I have. Nevertheless, I never tried using voice recognition when I first got the BT/Assist module because I thought I didn't have it.

Well, as side note, the Inspection I for the M3 included: valve adjustments with new valve cover gasket and valve shims for the adjustment, new oil and oil filter, new air filter, new cabin microfilter. (The S54 engine does NOT have self-adjusting valves like the M54 engines). Glad BMW NA is picking up the tab.....

my -114 module is the same way with the voice commands, it only appears to be for the telephone. I dont have voice recognition for nav. the phone module voice is a guy while my nav gives directions in a female voice.

please keep us posted with your lighting issue kicking off the assist module
