IPhone and Bluetooth actually work, finally.
After much frustration, I finally got an IPhone working with my 2006 X5 Bluetooth, consistently. Several phones had been paired to my X5, two of these were in the car at the same time and the phone module seemed to freeze up, the X5 telephone module would not work at all. The second phone was a Nokia that was not fully compatible but did work for calls, I used the Bluetooth voice module as the directory would not upload from the Nokia. The battery on my X5 drained down, quite by chance, following recharging the battery, the IPhone paired back to the Bluetooth and the IPhone has been working fine. The service mechanics talked about unhooking the battery for several months but never performed the procedure. After the battery run down, all I had to set on the X5 was the date and time. Also, you will want to turn the IPhone WI-FI setting to off (this is performed via the IPhone general settings).

I have a 2004 e46 and am having problems...
It connects and transfers all the phonebook... But if you receive or make a call, the bluetooth drops the call and you have to use the handset... Anyone got any ideas how to fix this?? My iphone is unlocked & jailbroken... PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE Someone help me.... THanks in advance ASH |
I need some help with this too. I have a 2005 e46 and am getting stuck to the 'please wait' screen after having successfully paired my iphone 3G to my bluetooth. Can anyone offer any advice? Thanks!

I paired my iphone and went to the phonebook (on the nav computer) and mine said "please wait"
I waited for about 10 minutes (because I have a lot in my phonebook) and hey presto... it worked... Another thing that I have learned is that the caller id (when someone phones you) won't show on your screen because the iphone does not support rmsa (remote sim access)... Hope this helps.. ASH |
Thanks. I followed the advice from here and it now works.

Does your caller id (number or name) show on your screen when someone phones you??
Cheers... ASH |
This could be the problem...;)

I wouldn't have thought that should cause a problem!!
It's to do with the data transfer between the car kit (BMW in my case) and the phone... not the phone & the service provider (Orange) |
Everything is mint. I can see the caller ID, I can browse through my contacts, no problem. I have the latest firmware (v.32) in my MK4, I do not know if this makes any difference. Oh, remember to change the order your contacts are sorted and appear.
first name--->last name This is how BMW bluetooth likes them. |
