Do all 2005 X5's have Bluetooth?
Pretty sure I've been through every post on here and still can't figure it out. I have an '05 X5 (non-Nav, no CD Changer) and am just trying to figure out if I have BT. Is the activated unit standard on all '05s?
When I turn the key to position 1 (or turn the X on) I use my phone to search and come up with nothing. I've tried pushing the R/T button on the steering wheel - nothing; I've tried pushing the "sneezing man" button on the wheel - nothing; I've tried the Tel and phone buttons on the MID - nothing. I need to pull apart the back compartment to try to find the passkey, but even if I am equipped, what good will the PK do me if the phone won't even recognize the BT? :dunno: |
Give this a look. http://www.xoutpost.com/bluetooth.php

Arghhh! Seems like exactly what I am looking for, but none of the info is there. |
Under that list the link "Pairing a Bluetooth Phone on a 2005 with combo Assist/Bluetooth Module" works fine.
|
If you have BMW assist (SOS) then the dormant bluetooth can be enabled with Navcoder.
|
Don't you need to have navigation to be able to use Navcoder?

Jochen originally created NavCoder to code a few navigation features, but he has since expanded it to code many non-navigation components. |
I have an 04 that has the sos and phone buttons. Does that mean I can activate bt?

The first CDMA TCU with Bluetooth was manufactured in September 2004, for the 2005 model year cars. If your TCU was ever replaced, then you could have a newer model with BT, but if your TCU is original, most likely you do not have Bluetooth. |
How would I find out? I looked in the compartment in the back and didnt see any boxes back there. Where would I look?
|
Find the TCU and verify the part number. Here is a post with a listing of TCU part numbers and whether they have Bluetooth.
Here's a great TCU part number reference The TCU is located in the rear compartment, by the CD changer and DSP amp. If you have navigation, I believe it sits above the navigation bracket. |
Thanks for the info. Judging by the link I wouldnt have it. I'll check the back tomorrow to find the tcu. I dont have nav, but I would guess its still in the same place.
Where would I find a newer one If I wanted to upgrade to a voice and BT one? New or used? |
I would search something like eBay for a while for a newer module. You can get them for 50% of the new price.
