do the pinouts for the DB25 match the 54 pin then? I could buy the bits and make one up - but surely the 54 pinouts from the TCU mean I wont have enough pins on the DB25!?

That is weird. It is a valid part number for the US dealers. By "does not exist" could they mean that BMW is out of stock? It is absolutly a valid part. In the US, this sells for $36, or about £23.

Regarding some of the follow-on posts, there is no reason to have to tear anything apart. All that you need is in the DB25 plug. Here is a post with the DB25 to 54-pin pin conversions. You can make the adapter yourself.

I may have a go at making my own...

sod it I will go with the parrot kit - this is too much hassle!

Remember, you only need PWR, GND, iBus, mic, TELON, Audio out and mute. The eject box can wait. There is a thread around detailing how to make your own adaptor.

Thanks, but as I said, I am not as technically minded as you guys, and I just dont have the time or patience for it to be honest.

The Parrot kit is supposedly plug and play (which I thought the TCU would be to be honest) so I will try that.

any idea where I may get a 54 pin connector in a shop / off the shelf? Looking in Maplins, they have the DB25 but cant find a 54 pin plug....

Before you buy a Parrot, read through this post below. The Parrot is a very good product, but it is no where near as good as the BMW Bluetooth system. Plus, it is not as plug-and-play as they imply. You will have to do a lot more work to route the wiring and mic where you need it. The only thing you need to do for the TCU is to buy that adapter cable. Maybe your dealer can help-- ask them to search their US parts database.
