My car is a 2003 E46 with satnav + TV + BT prep (Gen13). Anyone with a different model please report back if this procedure works.

I tried this and managed to send the contacts across, but oddly the car kit will only display the contacts for a few seconds after turning the ignition on then defaults back to 'Phone book empty'. It's almost seems like the contacts are on the ULF but because it cannot verify them with the phone when connected then it removes them as turning the ignition off and back on again will display the contacts again for a few seconds before losing them again.

I'm using a 5th Gen ULF with Nokia X6 with latest firmware with all the phone contacts stored in the phone and none in the sim. I tried transferring a few to the sim card to see if it made any difference but had no effect.

I've given up with this at the moment and returned to my reliable Nokia 5310 which connects perfectly and displayed all contacts immediately. I'm wondering if the later gen ULF's would fair any better but don't want to waste the money, if it makes no difference.

I love it when manufacturers brings out 'new, improved technology' which works worse than the previous models. :banghead:

Still, thanks to everyone for the previous info in this post as otherwise I would've struggled to get this far.

I'm having the same problem as apetrov, pairing but no contacts downloaded, only my phone is an Apple iPhone 4 that I just received as a gift. I have a 2008 X3 with steering wheel controls for phone and other audio devices. Will the answer provided apetrov work for me too ccfj1?

Not any more... This was an Apple problem, not a BMW problem. The original iPhone had a problem with the Bluetooth protocol that would not work with the ULF. BMW created a special 13th Gen ULF specifically to work with the iPhone. Apple fixed the problem with iOS 2.2, and now every generation ULF (as far as I know) works with the iPhone.

I have an iPhone 4 with my 12th gen ULF. I had an iPhone 3GS before this. My Mom has an iPhone 4 with her 5th gen ULF. All have successfully transferred contacts to the ULFs.

Cool, it looks like 2.2 of the MAC OS fixes the phonebook problem then, nice.
