I have a 1st generation bluetooth module (84 21 6 934 552) factory fitted in my UK spec E39 (March 2003) along with wide screen SAT NAV - no assist in UK. All works well but never any voice.

Held steering wheel speech button two & half hours (well nearly) but still no beep. Steeler said no voice in my car (but what do they know).

The blue connector in the boot is connected to another module (could be TCU but I'm not sure what that is.

I'd welcome any suggestions or comments you guys might have

Hi Gary
You need a Bluetooth control unit that has "MIT SES" written on the label, if your car has this it will need to be coded to enable it to work, to do this you have to change the cars central coding code to include option SA620 then re-code the ulf (bluetooth control unit) to the car. Alternatively obtain an uncoded ulf and just plug it in but I would reccomend its coded properly..... but what do I know I just work for a steeler!

Thanks Hodgson100 - that's a very interesting point. I can see by this picture of an old ULF on Ebay exactly what you mean but on my unit, it only says 'ULF Module' in that position.

Makes me think I have a very early one without VR.

Do any of these modules provide SMS in the United States?
