Need Help with EIS bluetooth install
 

Hi:
I am trying to install the EIS bluetooth kit in my 2004 X5 with DSP, no NAV. I had Assist and removed the module, installed the EIS module, inserted the 54 pin plug and the other white fakra. The system will power on but I never get to the point where it says bluetooth pairing.

I thought that I had the bluetooth antenna on the top of the bracket. It is about 2" square by 1/4" thick. There were two other wires connected to the Assist module and I do not know what to do with these. I was told that they connect together, but they are both the same.

Can anyone offer me advice?

Hi - I can't tell by your user name who you are so i can't tell which kit you purchased. I will be happy to help - did you get the unit with the center console eject box? If so, when the ignition is on, do you see the red led come on on your MID? If so, when the radio is playing, what happens if you press and hold the button on that eject box that you would have just installed. I am assuming that you have tried this button per the directions???
A little more info as to what proceedure you are following and what you are seeing/hearing would help.

One more thing...
 

also, you needn't do anything with the other wires from the assist module disconnection and it will not have any impact on your current situation.

I am the one you shipped the unit to to arrive on Friday, it was sent overnight - Thanks for that!
I did not install the eject box in the console. I am using a Razr V3 on Cingular and was told that I do not need to install that part!
I am getting a red light on the MID.
I can access the voice recognition by pressing the button on the steering wheel with the face on it. On the dash, the screen tells me to Activate Phone.
Let me know what you need to know. Is it possible that the little 2" square box on the top of the rack is not a bluetooth antenna? It has a purple and black connection and I am not sure where the other end of the white connection goes, the one that is plugged into the module.

You need the pairing button in order to pair the phone. I'm pretty sure you are going to have to install the eject box, as that has the pairing button in it. The steering wheel button will not initiate the pairing on a Visteon module (which is what I assume you have).

I will try that - so much for shortcuts!
Do you know if I have to disconnect the battery again to install the eject box?

I didn't disconnect the battery when I installed my kit, but use your own judgement.

Yup, that sounds like the problem. I will also have to assume that he is setting his phone to search for BT devices :dunno:
