Thumbs down Patrick BMW, Schaumburg, Illinois

With the temperatures hitting 100 F I finally decided to have my Air Conditioning inspected at Patrick BMW. I had a friend inspect at his shop before taking it to the stealer and he told me there wasn't a leak. The compressor was turning on so he didn't suspect it was the cause of the problem. He thought it might be a failed Climate Head Unit. Patrick BMW told me it would be $225 to simply look at and hook it up to their tester. The concluded the compressor was bad, it wasn't keeping the High and Low pressure separated. They quoted me $1300 for the compressor and $500 for labor plus they recommended the expansion valve be replaced for another $200. The total estimate to fix the AC was $2100.

I contacted a few local dealerships' parts dept. and they all quoted me $700 for the compressor, the core and tax. I relayed the information to Patrick BMW and they said I probably got the wrong part quoted or their parts guy quoted the wrong part. Patrick BMW didn't check to see if they quoted the wrong part. They charged me $225 without having any thing repaired.

I'm going to purchase the parts and have a local shop repair it for well under a $1000.

Patrick BMW is a rip-off. This isn't the first time i've had a bad experience with them but it is the first bad experience with the SA Chris, who is usually very helpful. I normally go to Bill Jacobs even though it is out of my way but with the heat I stopped by Patrick because it is very close to my work. I will never again go to Patrick BMW.
