Good Experience at Darien BMW in Darien, CT

Hi All,

I am new to this board... For about a year now, I have been complaining to my dealer about excessive oil burning on my 2002 X5 3.0 5-speed... I took it to Greenwich BMW several times and they insist there was no oil leak... I finally took it to another dealer, Wide World Cars in Spring Valley NY... They said the oil separator was clogged and fixed that, but the car still burned oil... Finally, the oil burning got so bad, it was down to 1 quart per 500 miles... A BMW CCA member recommended I take it to Darien BMW... Long and behold, they finally did a leakdown test and said cylinder 5 had the exhaust manifold valve stuck open and all the piston rings / gaskets needed to be replaced with an entire engine rebuild... This was back in Oct. 2006... The dealer had my car for 25 days and I drove a X3 loaner during that time... Since the transmission needed to be taken apart in the engine rebuild, they asked if I wanted a new clutch paying parts only... I went for it... I did not replace the flywheel though, it looked OK... I also did all the belts for parts only while the engine was apart...

Today, the car still burns oil... ~approx. 1 quart 2,500 or so, but it's a big improvement over how the car used to react...

Thanks Darien BMW.... a professional and courteous dealership...

Another 2-thumbs up for Darien BMW in Darien, CT... My car died last week and I had it towed there early afternoon... They gave me a Toyota Avalon as a loaner, and fixed the problem by the next morning.. Turns out, the entire engine wire harness had to be replaced... This was covered under the CPO... Great Experience... Jeff Grikinich my service advisor is a great guy to work with, and really goes the extra mile..

I'll add yet another excellent reference for BMW of Darien (Connecticut). I've purchased three cars from them, a 2005 X5, a 2007 M5 and now a 2008 X5 (sold the others). All three times I've worked with Don Doria. He, as well as the entire experience, was professional and terrific.

Great place, great people...

Regards,

Josh
