What dealer are you taking it to? I know that when I lived in West Bend that it went to International BMW. The price is about right for an Inspection II, but if you are inclined most of the stuff can be done DIY.
You might also want to give the "Little Car Shop" a call. I know right before I left they were an indy shop that was recommended to me.

Taking your car to the dealership always involve a lot of money. Two 3 indy shop that I know of in the Milwaukee area is O'Reilly's Motor Cars, Little Car Shop and Oberhauz Automotives. I have been to Little Car Shop and Oberhauz and they're good. Can't say much about O'Reilly's Motor Cars shop since I have never taken my X5 there.
