BMW of Arlington...There goes another $1800!

My extended warranty will be reimbursing me over half of that amount, but still! Where's the "SHEESH!" smilie? I am still not used to the skyrocketing labor charges we all see across the board, no matter the make or model.

Another cracked CV boot and axle replacement, the oil pan helicoil and oil service, new microfilter, and rear window regulator, and finally got the X back today after 5 days in an F-150 and 3 in an '05 Pathfinder.

I sure as hell hope that is the last round of repairs for awhile!

The good part is that my SA at BMW of Arlington takes good care of me and makes all the calls to my warranty company without hassle.

Anyone know if the CCA discount applies to parts needed during service visits or is it parts counter only?

JV, does that mean that your Carmax MaxCare warranty works at the BMW dealer? Why do you have to pay half of the amount, what is not covered by the warranty?

It does work for me, and although he's technically not supposed to do it, my SA has on occasion accepted a credit card payment from MaxCare for my repairs, freeing me from having to be reimbursed. The warranty charges a $75 deductible per visit and their allowances for labor hours are typically below the BMW prescribed hours, eg- the CV boot repair according to BMW is a 2.5 labor hour job, Max Care says it's a 2 hour job. They will cover defects, not suspect work done by the dealership or independent shop or me.

Thanks JV, good to know. When I bought my car the Carmax rep did say the MaxCare warranty worked at BMW but I thought he was just BSting me. Until now I must say thought that everything I had done on this car was fully covered (minus the $50 deductible) and well done at Carmax Raleigh. One time they even prefered to send the car to an engine specialist to get the entire cooling system replaced and engine tuned. So far I am very happy with their service.

Thick, dark grease all over the wheel on the affected side, well that would be visual, wouldn't it.

If you have hesitation under acceleration, or uneven acceleration, where it may feel like one wheel is spinning faster than another with the DSC on, that might be a clue. Excessive play in the axle would likely be found if the grease in the boot were already gone, so you've got some time to get the boot replaced if it recently tore.
