Replacing a Center Steering Wheel Emblem

Hi Guys. New member and new (old) X5 E70 owner.

I’m looking for some info on replacing the BMW emblem at the center of my steering wheel. I’ve got a nearly pristine interior aside from the emblem, in which the silver lettering and foil is degraded and sort of washed out.

The airbag unit embedded inside makes gluing a metal replacement on top of the existing one a no-go. Just wondering if anyone has an idea regarding replacement of the center cover, which presumably comes with a new emblem? Can the innards be moved over to a new cover? Where could one be obtained and for how much?

You can but a new airbag cover only on ebay with a new emblem for like $40. I did when I converted to a sport wheel.
