Help with fixing up scratches
I couldn't quite clear the garage and scraped my X5 against some stucco. Need some help in how to best fix this problem (excluding taking it to a body shop and re-painting it). (1) Some areas seem to simply have stucco on it. What's the best way to remove it? Should I use a porter cable on it? (2) Other areas are clearly scratched (black showing). I obtained some touch up paint. Now how do I prep the surface, use the touch up and treat it afterwards? It also comes with clear coat. Am I suppose to use this before or after I lay down the paint? I read somewhere that it gets applied on first! Any help is appreciated. Thanxs in advance.

You can clean it up with the porter cable and touch it up to be less noticeable, but the only way it would be "right" again would be to have the bumper repainted. It sucks, but should only cost a couple hundred bucks.

Yeah. I agree. Just can't justify spending a couple hundred more on it at this time. I just spent a good amount installing the aero kit on it. Plus have to be more money conscious now.
Any tips on how I should use the porter cable? I just bought one recently intending it to be used for polishing, sealing and waxing. But haven't used it yet. Anything special I should note about using it to clean up the area? ie: pads to use, any chemicals, etc.

I would get off all the paint that is not yours. That alone will make it look 10X better. After that a good matching touch-up paint pen should get you to 95%

I did the same thing. what I did was take 600 grit sand paper and sanded the black areas then I layered the base coat to build it up to match and took 1000 and 2000 grit sand paper and made it perfect (I'm a perfectionist), then but the clear coat on. Just finished yesterday, took me about a week because I've been busy with school and work. but I am satisfied with the way it turned out. Certainly looks better than big black scraps. Just my experience.
