Question Pin Stripping - Yeah or Neh?

'Curious if anyone has ever considered (or done this). Our '11 X5d is space grey (medium gray). The crease lines were so promient that when I was waxing it I was playing with what it would look like with pinstripping.

That advanced to buying some cheap pin stripe tape (1/4" wide in red & black) and running it along the sides, just above the crease line and letting it die into the front fender bulge, just to see how it would look. I also tried it on the rear trunk, both sides dying into the round "BMW" badge...still looks pretty good.

While I'd never have this as the permanent solution, I'm now thinking of running three painted pinstripes, using each of the colors used on the ///M logo. The grey base color really makes the tape pinstripes pop - even the black one.

Has anyone done anything like this? Like or hate the idea? Love to hear your thoughts!
