Memorial weekend project

It's been a while since i have been able to do any serious detailing due to the lack of a garage. Usually just washed the whole vehicle and rotated waxing different areas. Now that we moved and I can store the X inside and away from dust, I can do more than 1 day of work. Spent about 12 hours on detailing over the 3 day weekend.

1. Wash
2. Clay
3. 2 coats of wax
4. Wheel polish
5. 2 coats Wheel wax -different tub than that for the paint.
6. Armor All Wheel sealant
7. Tire shine gel
8. RainX'd all exterior glass
9. Interier vacuum
10. Glass cleaned inside
11. Dusted all surfaces
12. Leather treated with BMW leather lotion
13. Wiped down all rubber door seals and engine compartment

I'll post a couple pictures this evening. It was dark when I finished last night.

The problem now is that I dont want to get it out of the garage and risk getting it dirty. Drove the wife's car today.

Maguire's clay kit, Maguire's Gold Class Carnuba wax on the paint and cleaner wax on the wheels, Off brand polish on the wheels, Armor All spray sealant(love this stuff - brake dust non-existant after a couple treatments), Armor All extreme tire shine gel(comes with a sponge), RainX on the ext glass, Windex on the inside.


I also used the wax wipe off rag on the black trim between the front and rear doors. Just enough wax gets on it to give a nice shine but doesnt leave a residue that looks like hell.

I'm not a high-end product guy. The best Target sells is good enough for me. I can't tell enough of a difference to make it worthwhile spending 5x the money for specialty products. My opinion is that the difference is in the amount of care given to the job and that those spending the most money are more liekly to do a careful job.

I agree with the above, to an extent. I have recently upgraded my products and equipment, and gotta say that there are some products out there that are just so much better.
My product pick of the week has got to be "Tuff Shine" tire clearcoat. If you have never heard of it or seen it, check it out. The tire cleaner alone is worth the price of the whole kit.
