X5 LED tail lights don't exist nor do we have a manufacturer willing to design and produce them. No R&D has been done. A manufacturer certainly isn't going to make molds for a production run of only 65 lights unless it appears that there is a possible market. It doesn't hurt to keep tabs on anyone who wants these lights just in case a positive development takes place.
it would seem plausible to develop these tail lights considering that there are all those generic headlights on ebay...

It isn't worth it to the company. The 3 series and 5 series rides are much more common then the 2001+ X series. Just look at the board for a sampling, how many members (10,353)...and how many of the members are on that list (77)?

That is .008% and these are X5 enthusiasts.

Then ask, how many would actually pony up the funds to buy the lights, maybe 3/4 of the 77 on the list.

Not worth the time, but the list is cool

My thoughts, too. If they can make aftermarket headlights at a profit, I would think it would be a logical assumption that they could do the same for the tail lights

just a small update for everybody on this thread; because of Chinese New Years, I haven't been able to contact my friend over at DEPO, as he has been on a long vacation. He should be back in town in the next day or two, so I will try to catch him before I head to central/south america on the 5th of March. I'll keep everybody posted!

Hey guys, this is number 38 on the list, post 44 on this tread back in October, just checking up. So it's been over 6 months since the list has been created and we are up to 80 on our list. At this rate we should get the 400-450 names sometime in mid 2009 meaning I might see this product in 2010?! Are we thinking in realistic terms here? I know we all hope to keep our X's forever but but for some people, knowing or unknowing, forever expires before 2010?

Has someone checked in with realoem.com lately? asawadude, do you have any updates or suggestions? Have you had a chance to pursue any other leads? Thanks in advance.

PS. I still think this idea is really cool.
