2001 X5 Tail Light Retrofit - Adapters?

I just did the change per Adamt's instructions and it worked like a champ. I did go to the lower wattage bulbs for the bottom bulbs and both middle and bottom are the same degree of light. Frustrating install when you have a BSW sub woofer - taking that out each time for a burnt out bulb is going to suck!

I have replaced bottom section with low wattage Sylvania 5007 as you guys suggested and indeed, it brings same degree of luminosity for both sections.
