ABSCHLEPPSTANGE

Folks, I just came across tis item in the ETK, ABSCHLEPPSTANGE, which is a towbar for the E53, part # 82 11 0 409 954. This is not a trailer hitch, this is the one that connects a disabled vehicle to a still alive one in order to tow it from point A to point B. Unfortunately, not all of us are blessed with AAA or CAA road assistance service, and something like that might be handy - this is a hard connection, as opposed to a rope or cable.

Our cars are already equipped with a tow eye/hook, and this tow bar goes with that eye.

My question is, has anyone used it, or maybe seen it, is there a spot in the trunk where this bar would go, how long is it...

Thank you

Abschleppstange just means tow bar.

here is a link for eBay Germany showing how it is used. This one is new and rated at 2500 KG.
