What components impact the directness Of steering?
And how much grief would it be to replace all of them?
I’m chasing some issues with my steering rack at the moment. Issues I have are
- The car wanders on the road a bit. Keeping it going straight and making high speed turns isn’t effortless
- There is a “click” sound when turning the steering from side to side. There are no PS fluid leaks and the PS fluid was renewed about 1 year (and less than 1000 miles) ago.
- The steering wheel is not pointing 12’oclock when going straight.
- The vehicle does NOT pull to any side - runs straight.
This all started after I had my local shop do my alternator bracket. They said they dropped the subframe and removed the diff to get access. I can’t verify if this work was the cause of this or if it’s just a coincidence.
I’ve never diagnosed an issue with steering clunks before so any guidance on where to start will be appreciated.
