Way OT Question for TR Doc...

Hi TR,
I've been trying to score a set of tires for my '02 Vette:
245/45-17 Front
275/40-18 Rear

Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 Non Run Flats...

Your site now shows the rears available finally, but the fronts
still B/O'd.

My calls to a live person give me a different B/O fill time, on the
fronts, every call. It's been "4-6 weeks", said without vigor or
interest, since the first of the year. Should I give up on the GYs?

Thank you and Best Regards,
Ol'UncleMotor

doc@tirerack is on a distinguished road
Unfortunately, Goodyear is still WAY behind on production after their labor strike last year, and they have been very bad about giving us production schedules or other ETA. I apologize for the lack of enthusiastic response, but we have been getting a lot of grief for Goodyear's problems and many are frustrated. The fact is that we have no idea when Goodyear has planned to put that size back in to production, plain and simple.

My best recommedations (for non RFT) would be either the new Bridgestone RE050A Pole Positions, or the Michelin PS2's.

Thank you for your feedback, Doc...

I wasn't whining about TR; I just appreciate the straight answer.

I looked at both of the other possiblities and will probably pass,
and wait for the GYs.

Neither offer the "look" of the GYs and while the Michey PS2 is
"close" in the ratings, it is pricey. The GYs are still the tire for
the Vette, based on all the reading I've done.

I will drive it north to our summer house in late April and hope
I can cop a set in May; the impetus to get my Vette "re-tired"
down here in SW FLA this winter, was the availability of quality
tire mounting shops in the area. Back in far western NC, all my
tire joint selections are shade tree/pickup truck bang and slam joints.
Not a quality tire mounting shop within a hundred miles of me.

Thanks again for your response. TR will get my continued biz when
the damn tires finally show up, lol!
