I have also heard bad things about OE wheels. I am in the same predicament. I am looking to upgrade to 87's. I have been looking at Wheels and Caps on ebay. Their rating is 99.9% and I have been talking to the online salesmen over email and he said they have genuine Italian made rims. OE-made in Indonesia, AFS and Lakeshore- made in China. Thats just what I have found out so far. Havent made any decisions yet. Many folks on here recommend Lakeshore.

I have 19" HARTGE CLassic replica wheels on my 02 E53 X5 3.0d euro. If I had the money, I would definitely go for the BMW OEM's or HARTGE Classic original rims. The Italian replicas will have to do for now until I have enough cash to buy the oem's. Pic below:
