Totally agree. I had them after a set of Pirelli Scorpions and I thought that I went from a 285 to 255. They looked very narrow.

Other than that, I did not care for the Toyos. They were inexpensive and that was a factor in my decision. They got loud pretty fast too. I know that the noise is caused by uneven wear from the negative camber in the rear but it was premature on the Toyos.

I recently got Advans and like the look and performance much better. Too bad it won't work for the OP.

quick update on the new Toyo Proxes S/Ts...

so far so good... i swapped out the 18s to 214 20s w/Toyos and on the way home from the dealer i immediately noticed better traction and cornering ability (obviously because i went from narrow 18s to wider 20s)
but the tires held up great with no slippage...

in the rain it performed as expected... very good confidence inspiring traction...

i did feel a very slight slip on the right front wheel while taking a hard corner on an entrance ramp.. not a scary slip but a slight chirp/skip as i was making the turn.... (like i had great traction but it was hitting its limits)

as for bumps...no significant difference from the 18 run-flats that i thought were horribly stiff....

so in summary... the tires offer better traction, gives the vehicle a much more meaner appearance, and is no better/worse in day to day pot hole reaction than the stock 18s....

Of course, I'll continue to swap to other brands as the need arises...
my next set will be the michelin latitude Pros just for comparison...

thx for the update, let's see pics.

Still waiting on my dang wheel caps to get here before I put mine on. It's difficult to pull off temp wheel caps when mounted. All ready to go aside from that...

I take it that you liked the Scorpions much better than the Toyos? I have the Scorpions right now. While they are very good, they don't wear as well as I would have liked. The treads are more than half way through only after about 11k miles wearing very evenly.

I guessed like drod, I might give the Michelins a try next. But I love the looks and handlings of the Scorpions...for an all-season.
