Here are some pics of the 255/60/17 on the 17X7.5 wheels. I just noticed these pics seem to make the tires look a bit narrower than they really are.

I have a 2001 4.4 with the Yokohama Geolander HTS 255/55 R18's on them and I can't stand them. First, they wear awfully and actually reduced my gas mileage by over 1 mpg when I put them on. I didn't think that they were all that great in the snow, either. I live in Minneapolis and drive 25 miles to work (each way) every day.
I'm looking for a new set of tires to replace them even though they still have decent tread. |

Finally bought new tires
Well, after reading all of the kind replies and after much research, and of course a budget, I got a set of tires last week.
General (Continental) Altimax HP 235/65R17 on my 2001 X5 3.0i Love them !!! Much quieter ride than the original equipment tires. Haven't seen any weather yet, rain, etc. Price was VERY right and they look great. Nice high tech tread pattern. Check them out. You might be as impressed as I was with the reviews. (Just go to their web site for photo's) Tim |
