Finally bought new tires
Well, after reading all of the kind replies and after much research, and of course a budget, I got a set of tires last week.

General (Continental) Altimax HP 235/65R17 on my 2001 X5 3.0i

Love them !!!

Much quieter ride than the original equipment tires. Haven't seen any weather yet, rain, etc.

Price was VERY right and they look great. Nice high tech tread pattern.

Check them out. You might be as impressed as I was with the reviews.
