what tires for 2003 bmw x5???

Hey, I'm new to this forum and have a 2003 bmw x5 4.4i

I have the 19" rims that you get with the sport package upgrade and 19" update. they look like this:



and i'm paying 350 for each michelin tire, i'm thinking these are the best, because they came with my x5 when i bought it new. well my question was do you guys think that i can get a different type for example...continental, good year, etc. and still have the same performance?

please let me know, because with the bad economy right now...1400 hundred a year for a set of tires is pretty costly.
