Yellow Calipers

I removed the calipers and brackets off my new X5 and painted them yellow, also replaced the brake pads with ceramic ones and now have only one third the brake dust.

Have done 700klms and if anything the brakes are better!

I used a good quality brake paint out of a spray can from a Automotive shop ( not a cheap imported product). There is about 8 coats of paint on each caliper then 2 coats of clear. The paint is rated to 900C.

The trick is to completely remove all grease & grim, then a light sand and a clean down with thinners. It;s best done by removing the caliper & brackets completely off the car. Took me 2 days.

I did the same thing on mine last weekend. I think the yellow calipers look great. Put the EBC yellow stuff pads on all the way around too. I like it!

Very nice! It looks like you added a little ///M graphic too. More about that for inquiring minds.

A friend recently did his Porsche calipers with the G2 caliper paint kit with great results. Cleaning was a pain but the results are bright and glossy.

Yeh, there is a bit of work in it if you want to do it right, I was lucky as when my new X5 arrived at the dealers 2 weeks ago I had them rip all 4 calipers off it. So while they installed the 6mm offset castor bushes I had made for the frontend it gave me a day or so to paint the calipers.

With the X5 being new the caliphers were clean to start with and when they were put back on we just slipped in the new ceramic pads.

I figured since the M-Sport X5 wheels had the ///M logo I put the same logo on the caliphers, it was either that or BMW decals!
