Are Those Replica Wheels Any Good ?
My wife and I purchased a 2009 X5 35d September last year and we are very happy with it so far. The original Bridgestone all seasons coped ok last/first winter but we live in Toronto so we really need proper winter tires for the one coming up. A set of dedicated BMW 18" winter wheels/tires package is just over $4,000 at our dealer
so I have been looking at alternatives - especially wheels since more than likely I will buy tires from Tirerack.I have heard good things about Wheel and Caps at Clayton, NC. I checked out their site and they sell a set of replica X5 18" wheels at around $120 each - which is seriously attractive to a poor guy like me. I understand that you only get what you pay for, but I am not really a performance driver - especially in winter. Has anyone had any good/bad experience relating to these and other replica wheels. Are they ok - as in structurally safe ? or should I starting saving up ![]() Thanks in advance |

Hey I wish I could help you out on info regarding replicas, But I may have some info about bmw winter wheel packages. I just found an ad on kijiji from bavaria BMW in edmonton, alberta and they sold me an approved winter wheel.tire package valued at $3800 for $1280 all in. That is 4 18 inch x 8 inch star spoke BMW wheels with 4 pirelli scorpion snow and ice tires 255/55/18 5x120 bolt pattern. So maybe call around some local BMW dealers and see if they are selling off any winter invetory to make room for the summer wheels. Always worth a try, because for 1200 you can not beat that deal!! Anyways good luck, and my stock all seasons are not up to the task of winter in alberta...I was stuck on my drive way :S

I really dont need another set of wheels around but I could just not pass that offer up, almost temping to buy a few and sell them when winter comes! I really dont know how BMW can justify selling them for $3800 though. I mean I can understand if the wheels were amazing and lightweight but they weigh a ton...oh well the joys of BMW dealers! GL with the search

I got my 20" style 132 reps from the horrid lakeshore wheel and tire for $375!!!
I had them tested for strength and defects by one of my friends wheel guy (Matt from C&D in NJ) and the wheels found to be up to DOT standards. Ive put around 7k miles on them and they're holding up great
