Staggered Wheels

Hey guys,

I'm trying to get 4 staggered wheels in black. any advice or suggestions?

and tires as well.

By staggered, I assume you mean the staggered look via wider rear wheels & tires vs the front set...
As in oe 132s, et al.

If so, they come up on the for sale forum on occasion; seldom in "black", but one
can get them powder coated/painted/black chrome by a good paint joint.
Keep an eye out.

i def want wider rear wheels. but is it also ok to get wider front wheels?

Yes, one can get a set of wheels where the fronts are wider than the oe
wheels, and the rears are even wider.

For example, my '01 3.0 came with style 69 wheels which were 8.5" x 18",
front and rear...I changed to style 132 wheels, which are 9" x 19" front,
and 10" x 19" rear; thus, the new front wheels are 1" wider than the originals, and the rears are 1 1/5" wider than oe, and 1" wider than new front wheels.

Some posters have even gone to style 87s, which are 20", even wider rim, and also staggered.

I doubt you would want wider wheels in front, than in back, but I don't think that was you question...

besides the looks...
1) what's the benefit of having all four wide wheels?
2) what's the benefit of having staggered wheels (only wide rear wheels)?

Just imo,
1-all four wheels the same size is standard "square/even" look...nothing wrong with it.
Really wide wheels give car the steamroller look; odd, but everyone has their own
bag.
How "wide", with all four wheels the same size, are you thinking of?

2-staggered wheels "look good" to most, esp with wider rear wheel/tire combo.
There may be some slight benefit in cornering with the wider rear wheel, but most of
us never get it pushed that far except in emergency handling situs.

That's about it for me on this thread.

well, in terms of the size, i've seen some suvs with all four wide wheels. i believe they were bmw x5 sports with 4.8 engine. any idea how wide they are?

i don't want something rediculously wide that's out of proportion.

What year and engine size of your X5? Any pics?
Size is written on side of tires e.g. 245/40R/18..check your current tire size.

BMW 20" wheels on 4.8 are always staggard(rear wider).

As motordavid said staggard wheels look much better.
