Style 336 wheels. Are there different wheels on X5 and X6?

I'm looking to buy a set of used staggered Style 336 wheels (BMW OEM) for my 2008 E70 4.8i. These 336 wheels have came off a 2011 X6. They are in a distant state...

I see conflicting info (on multiple forums) as to whether I will need to have hub adapters on the rear wheels:

1. From previous posts, I got this info:
----------Front-----Rear----------Bolts
E70 X5---74 mm----74 mm -------M14X1.25
E71 X6---74 mm----72.50 mm-----M14x1.25

2. From a dealer's auction of Style 336 from an 2011 set of 336's taken off an X5 (not an X6 like I'm getting), he says:
E70 X5 series (2007 to current) - no modification required

I can purchase the wheels and measure the hub sizes when they arrive but wondered if anyone could help answer this?

Thanks

The center bore size on the X6 rear is different. Therefore, you will need hub rings. I would steer clear of this and just do X5 center bore exact specs.

Hope you're well and still loving your X! I'm picking up my new X5 in an hour and had it built with the 336's. I'm also doing the LCI Aero Kit on this and going AW this time. I'll post up some pix soon! All the best!

Good Question...
The wheel hub bore site info I know of, shows the X6 wheels having that front wheel identical to E70, with the rear X6 wheel being same as E53.

The Wheel Pics/info site I use, shows the wheel 'looking' identical, but that site does not contain wheel bore info.

X5 E70
10x20vorne275/40R20 ET 4020,5011x20hinten315/35R20 ET 37
X6 E71
10x20vorne275/40R20 ET 4020,5011x20hinten315/35R20 ET 37

As to that set of wheels, there are a few possibilities:
the seller is mistaken, the seller is selling non-oe wheels, the set is legit but the rear wheel has been bored to 74mm, or any combo of above. I realize this is little comfort.
No idea how we/you can determine other than asking seller to carefully measure both F & R bores on the set that's being offered.

C's Bimmer,

Thanks. I know that the X6 M rear bore is 72.5mm but guess I was looking for confirmation that X6 rear is the same.

It's worthwhile for me to get these, even using H&R Trak+ hub adapters, because it's a good deal. My preference would obviously be to not have the adapters.

motordavid,

Thanks for your response. I had looked at website too. That's what I couldn't understand how these wheels can be sold on new X5's and X6's.

I have asked the seller to measure the bores. He is going to send pics of the the inside barrels so I can check BMW OEM.

------------------------------------------------------

Here's the eBay link where the dealer claims that his set of 336's came off a new X5 and don't need hub adapters for a 2008 E70.

I have seen multiple sellers selling 336 take-offs from X6's.

Hey, I'm envious of your new car but mine is still keeping me happy... Once I can do it, I want to get a M3 --- that's a higher priority than replacing the X5.

It's funny you say that you're getting the 336's. I searched this forum for posts on 336's and I could have sworn that you posted that they were "gross" (in response to someone's new car picture with them on)

LOL! That was 2 years ago. I'm a changed man. I like them A LOT now! Hahaha! It must have been the X6 then, as I still can't get into it after all these years. Still reminds me of a Pontiac Aztec from the rear.

I was only referring to the X6, not the M. It's different than the X5 hub. My only concern with hub rings are the vibrations owners still experience, but being that these are OEM, you'll probably be ok. If the deal is too good to pass up, do it. Worse case scenario, sell them back to an X6 owner.

OK, I completed my research on the 336 wheels. Thought it might be useful to post that info for any others considering this later.

The part #s are:
Front: 36116788010 for X5 and X6
Rear: 36116788011 for X5
Rear: 36116796152 for X6

If one wants to put the X6 rear (72.5mm hub bore) on an X5 (74mm), this hub adapter will work

TPMS info:
Before 10/2010, you need "Wheel electronics module RDC 433MHz" part 36236781847. An alternative part is 36236779490. (So I need to buy 4 of those).
10/2010 and later have part is 36106790054.
New valves may be needed too.
