German 01-2004 X5 3.0D with NAV, BT, cd-changer, analogue DSP.
Want to put the 3rd gen iPod in the trunk so everything will be done with the steering wheel and/or NAV display.
Don't like it when firmware is not user upgradeable.

Guess I should go for the Dension Ice>Link Plus right.

Any pics available of the 16:9 showing the search screen?

Firmware won't really make a difference since there is no more development on the ice>Link Plus. If you are using a 3rd Generation iPod, I would probably recommend the ice>Link Plus (we have a few left in stock), since there is no ffw/rew on the DICE due to firmware limitations.

My recommendation would be to get a newer iPod and utilize the DICE. Firmware is not something that needed to be updated on a frequent basis.

Here's the link to where you can find the last of the ice>Links in the states:

Or better yet, the DICE kits:

The DICE is simple enough to install on your own, especially in the X5. You can have it connected in less than 5 minutes. This tutorial will show you how to route the cable to the center console easily:

And of course, we always have the kits in stock - ready to ship. Let me know when you're ready to place an order or if you have any further questions.
