So does this product have the same amount of engine whine like the others in the past?

If installed properly - this does not happen with either the previous version DICE or the SILVERLINE.

Sill Have Alternator Whine - Terrible

I have the Dice unit for the X5 with Sirius Satellite Radio and the alternator whine has made the iPod practically unusable. My Dice unit was professionally installed, and I have taken it back to them with no relief. of course they want to sell me a new third party radio with iPod support, but that seems ridiculous to me. I took the car to another shop who added an additional ground - still no relief.

I have heard some say that you need to cut the ground wire in the existing cable harness for the CD-Changer (which was not installed).

Any thoughts?

Not cut, but grounded properly or a Ground Loop isolator spliced into the wire depending on what specific version you purchase.
