Boo hiss. I expected something higher than the M5's 8250rpm. I mean c'mon, the S54 engine was amazing. BMW should stick to inline 6s, and there ought to be something higher than 8250rpm, and the gauges should be much more distinctive. In fact, it looks like everything's outta the E90 parts bin, so I'm guessing this isn't a fully "finished/completed" interior. It's a ridiculous steering wheel and poplar wood trim.

By the way, the tall shifter looks like its for SMG. Remember, the 6MT is a no-cost option, technically not "standard equip". Then again, paddle shifters aren't there. What is up with these pics?

How much higher than 8250 do you need? It's hard balancing V8s...this isn't an I4 in an S2000 or Teg..

As far as the parts, it's the same as the E46..it's based on the reg 3er. Same parts?..surprise.

Why would you want the S54 6 when you could het a V8 based off of the V10. It will be a monster compared to the 6. Dont get me wrong I love the strait 6 and have owned every M3 model made to date except for the E30. But I cant wait for this V8 to come out. Besides how much more hp do you think they could have reliably have gotten out of a 3.2 strait 6? No where close to what the V8 is gonna put out in my opinion.

And seriously what the hell do you need a 9000 redline for in a V8. 8250 is already extremely high for a road car and the higher the redline the lower the torque.

m3 post,
m3 forum
head tech at my dealer
salesman at my dealer
and some other places ive seen that.

But if you think about it its logical. Its a 5.0v10 and a 4.0v8. And why would they not base it on the current V10?

I wasnt getting defensive. I was just trying to give you all my sources and my opinions on why i think its true. Thats the problem with posting on message boards, peoples attitudes are misinterpretted because it is just words on a thread and no conversation. Sorry if you thought I was barking at you.
