As stated in my original post, the LEDs really only bother me when I'm behind a car with them at a stop light - have you experienced that? They're bad enough on cars, but can you imagine if we had 'em on our X's? - eyeball -level LEDs burning through the retina of the driver behind you... - they're just friken annoying. I also don't think standard brake lights are inadequate in any situation - fog included. I'm guessing that most folks like the LED lights because the look cool, not because it decreases their chances of being rear-ended. Do you really think it decreases your chances of being rear-ended? If so, by how much? 80%? 50%? 25%? Probably more like .00000000025%... When's the last time someone who was rear-ended said "if I had LED tail lights, this wouldn't have happened!" or the person doing the rear-ending saying "if you had led tail lights, I wouldn't have hit you, arsewipe!!".
Again, I'm not really this passionate about this issue - just stirring the pot for fun...
