I think that number was even stated in the recent C&D but IMO, it's wishful thinking. Remember what the car mags were expecting the Audi RS4 to go for? It was about the same $55K estimate and it turned out to be $66,000 base price ($71K with the Premium Package), not that there is a connection between the guessing of car mags but there could be a similar connection in that the RS4 and the E92/E90 M3 is in performance competition with the RS4 so you'd expect pricing to be about the same. Consider too that a loaded, and I mean a "checked all the boxes" E92 335i lists for $56,320 including delivery. I know it's totally loaded but I think that BMW AG would want to keep some price distance between the two.

If the E90 M3 turns out to be priced at $55K, I'm going to place my order.

I think there was overlap between the old 330ci and M3.........if you loaded the 330ci up to the gills it'd top out at like $52k, whereas the M3 started at about $48,000. Of course, you had to pay extra for stuff that was standard on the 330ci (H/K sound, xenon, moonroof, power seats). I remember my "built" M3 on the BMW site was in the mid $54k range, with no premium or power seats.

As for weight, it's up about <200 lbs, but the new engine should have no issue dealing with that. It's a tad porkier than I'd like to see, but I guess it is a luxury car on one side so it will be a tad heavy.

huh so no 4.8is? Although I can see why, it's still essentially the same vehicle, but with more power.
525 working out well? It will be like you were born again going from that to a rocket like the M3!

Na, just found out the sedans aren't going to be here until March of next year. Can't wait that long in a 525i. I am going to order my 535i as soon as my X5 sells. I will miss it, but I just don't want another used car. I definately don't want to keep the screwed up one, I just won't feel safe anymore.

I'll take a Space Grey over Palladium Silver, convertible, no options, please! I think we'll be lucky if it starts @ 60K, because my E70 is similarly loaded up as my E53 was, save for maybe $1,500, and it was a 46k--> 54k change. So if the E92 follows that kind of trend then it's gonna be significantly higher than the E46. But we'll just have to wait and see.
