BMW 1-Series M1 Coupe PS

This could be the 1-series M1 coupe expected to debut around mid-2008. It will sport with S54 3.2L I-6 engine from E46 M3. Power output should be the same 343hp, 0-62mph 5.2 sec, top speed 175mph.

///M1 is a done deal. BMW's ///M division will be busy in coming years with new additions to ///M family.

If rumours turn out to be true, the M1 would inherit the 343bhp 3.2L six cylinder powerplant from the company’s outgoing M3 model. This would give the baby M enough ammunition to hit 60mph in around 5.2 seconds, and a unrestricted top speed of 175mph.

Wouldn't the power to weight ratio be improved over the E46 M3 resulting in a faster 0 - 60? If memory serves me, I thought the E46 time was 4.8 and I would assume the smaller M1 would weigh less. 5.2 doesn't seem to make sense unless BMW is underrepresenting their acceleration times again. Thoughts?
