I didn't go for the M Roady cause I am waiting for the drop-top 6-speed M6 to hit the US, so I got an '03 Z4 3.0 (only 17K miles on it) for a song about three weeks ago.

Nice. The M6 will be one sweet ride. I'd have definitively gotten one if I could have afforded it. The M6 really does need euro clears though... On that car it really is night and day...

Your Z is nice. I love Maldives blue. Initially I had wanted a Z4, but back in the day the parents laid down the law (and it wasn't safe enough... ) and payed the bill . You've got the aerokit which is a neat add-on. However, I'd say put back on the stock rear lights... Or switch out the front's to the MY05- clears... Can't have orange on one end and clear on the other !

With that being said, the 3.0i is plenty fast. And the M54 really is a joy to row through the gears. The S54 has a great aural sound, but does give quite a shriek (or so i've heard on other M3's... I still can't go past 5500 rpm - thank you break in!) and doesn't sound so at smooth at higher rpm's...

Also, with the 3.0i (3.0si & 2.5i for that matter) you really can push the car without thinking about it. With the M, even without going over 5500 rpm's you really have to be aware of what your doing. I've already had a couple of 'uhoh's'... Perhaps too much power for the chassis...

Either way, the regular Z4 combo is just so sweet, one day when I can afford it, I'll pick up a regular vanilla one. 04' toledo blue, with nav, light poplar and sports package... My first dream car... haha. (Damn its going to be hard to find that combo...)It can only help that the Z4 is the unloved bastard child of the BMW family... a cheaper prices for a rock solid reliable car - sounds like a deal to me !!

For the carbon fiber trim, you can switch your aluminum out (very easy mod). However, you will pay a premium as people who sell the carbon fiber trim realize that demand is much higher for the M cube trim than any other Z4 trim. I think the Black piano is the sexiest and if its a better deal... go for that... (plus you can lie that your Z is a BMW individual car, as only individual cars get black piano wood trim).

Forums, forums... Bimmerfest is ok. There is Zpost. and the roadfly one. The best by far was Z4um.com, but it died a couple of weeks ago. The mod's sister or cousin died I think?, and he had to go to pakistan... But once he's back he's going to set up the site. It was mostly a british centric site, but very knowledgeable - I'd post there too from time to time...

Long exposure shot. Kept the camera's shutter open for 25 seconds, then drove like I did... end result is that...
