You are right. I never noticed that. The only "new" model to keep the driver's side door grab is the 1 series and I remember reading an article where the writer was complaining that he kept pressing his leg against it under hard cornering and it was driving him crazy. Otherwise only the 6 series, X3 and Z4 still have them from what I can tell.

Information and pictures from autobild.de

Based on BMW’s Advanced Diesel with BluePerformance there are a host of new diesel engines being introducing to the new 7 Series.

My German is not that great but from what I can make out there are 2 new engines being developed. One of which is an upgrade to the 335/535/3.0sd engine to 299HP. The other diesel engine is a complete new design. It is based on the same 3 litre engine having 3 turbochargers, which they suspect to have roughly 350HP. The latter is a replacement for the V8 745d, which was never released to the UK market.

I can only hope that these new Diesels will be installed into the facelift X5/X6 (+2009).

A slightly different version of the twin-turbo from X6 will be in F01.
Heard from a birdie that an active hybrid also be coming later.

When I was @ Bimmerfest in Santa Barbara two weekends ago, I saw the new F01 7-series in black camo disguise, but the roofline was quite evident and look just liked that pic on the previous post. There were two of those disguised F01 7-series driving down State Street....sorry, didn't have my camera with me. They had California Dealer plates and I figured their base was Port Hueneme, CA.

Is there something wrong with my computer? Cause I surely saw camouflage? It was all covered up!

Notice how they are hiding the hofmeister kink. The new 7 has special hofmeister kink echo/stamping, similar to what was on Concept CS as seen in pic below
