so i'm blown away by the smoothness of the 6spd auto in my new 645. but still, it has things that could use improvement (hard to come to a stop without any lurch at the end; 1st-2nd sometimes a bit abrupt; abruptly clunks into 6th gear if accelerating hard and then letting up once reaching freeway speeds), so if this 8spd can improve even further, then great!

The tq converter cutout is interesting..never seen the inside of one before.

To bring this topic back, I just have to say that there is sooo many things that can go wrong with this Tranny. I just don't know about reliability.
MB has come out with a new tranny, it doesn't have a tq converter. Very strange, but as you can see, everyone is trying to invent the next best thing. I'd like to see reliability, period! |

With all the transmission problems the current 750 is facing, I'm not really looking forward to this 8 speed AT in the next gen 7 series!
