Need expert opinion on what to buy...

hey guys, I myself have an X5, but now we're purchasing a car for my wife, and narrowed it down to 2 choices:

2001 BMW 330ci 75K (premium/cold weather) $12,000
2002 BMW 325i 65K (premium/cold weather) $11,250

what do you think is a better car for the money?
thanks for your help!

I think one big question for you is whether she needs 2 or 4 doors. The 330Ci is a 2 door and I would go for that if the extra doors aren't necessary. I think the E46 coupe body is truly a BMW classic.

If those are the two final options, then I agree with PNG that it really comes down to whether she wants a two door or not. Both look good, but different. The 2 door has easier access to the front seats, but a larger door to swing.

I wouldn't worry about the 2.5 or 3.0 question at all. Both have good power. We had a 2002 325xi, with a manual trans, and it had plenty of spirit. My wife loved that car, and I enjoyed driving it when she let me; we only traded it so that we could keep an X in the family for greater utility.

The 325 you list is less expensive, and a year newer, with fewer miles. Unless you really want 2 doors, I would go for that one.

I had an '03 330ci and loved it. Lots of power, looked good, and never had any mechanical problems. I have driven several 325i's as they are the usual dealer loaner and found them to be considerably less powerful than the 330Ci.

If you need the 4 doors and don't care about the extra power, then get the 325i.

to agree. Here's a pic of my 02 330Ci, with a few mods to give you a little idea. Mtech2, PSS coilovers, 19" BBS CH, Carbon Fiber roundels, Orion Angel eyes and a few other things.

thanks for your opinions, it really helped.
your car looks awesome, Major04!... if it was a car for me, i would also go with the Ci, but its for my wife, and plus the Ci seller backed out asking for more money so F him... we went with the four door which is newer, lower miles and cheaper my wife will enjoy it!
now i just have to change those ugly amber lights and do something about the headlights because they are not xenon. if you have any suggestions where to get nice cheap lights.. or even what xenon-like bulbs are the best to use.. fill me in!
