Looks like it has some 6 series appeal. The headlights and taillights look similar. Great improvement!! Chalk one up for the ladies.......Phil

Yes, that's what I'm seeing then, the 6 influence. A car I really like and would love to own some day. It's a good design from my perspective.

Does anyone else here think that the lines BMW draws between body panels are a little off or strange? Overall, I think the car looks pretty good, but the lines that the body panels leave (especially in the front and back) just dont seem to flow. The second photo in this thread is a prime example of what I am talking about. I love the line that flows from the bottom of the door to the bottom of the front quarter panel, but the two lines that end at the top of the wheel well just look out of place. Both droop down to the top of the wheel well. Does anyone else here know what I am talking about?
I just get a little frustrated because I feel BMW is getting out of touch with it's designs. When MB came out with the current C-Class, I thought, wow this car looks much better than the previous generation and I HATE MB. Unfortunately, BMW designs have to grow on me over time. I have to say that I don't immediately feel that this is an improvement over the last generation. |

I think it looks great. I saw the car about 9 months ago in Regensburg and thought, a little Z3, a little Z4, a little 6-series, and a touch of Z8. I also agree that the body seams and character lines take some getting used to, but then I remember hating the current 5 when it first appeared for the same reasons, now I love the design. Only time will tell if customers luv it!

Z6 is more like it.
The front/rear lights and trunk are a giveaway. Like it much better than the Z3 though.BTW, that is a fat shifter. Are the curved ones in the '07, '08 X5s going away and why?

Hmm - some of the immediate thoughts that entered my mind looking at the pictures:
- It kinda looks like a Z4 - The bonnet reminds me of a Crossfire - Trunk on current Z4 M looks better - Do not like the CS style nose - Wow, that thing is fast - Hopefully the M will have better styling - Glad I bought my Z4M so I dont have to turn it in for one of those I don't know - I guess that sounds pretty negative. Then again I was never a big fan of the previous Z4 until the M came out, so there is hope for this one.
