Engines and insurance rates

Looking for a 3er vert for the mom. She is hesitant to buy the 335 because she thinks it will cost more to insure due to it being classified as a higher performance vehicle? What do you all think? V the 328 of course... Small diff, no diff? I need some supporting arguments for the turbo lol

Call the insurance company and ask them, they can just look up the two models and give you a comparison. Anything here is anecdotal, and we all have very different insurance companies.

Call your insurance company and tell them you are looking at both vehicles and see if there is a difference in the quote.

I know my insurance company has a "Performance Vehicle Surcharge" on any BMW. They also categorize me as an ///M as opposed to a 50i because of the performance upgrade I have that gives the extra 40 hp.

I know it's apples and oranges to compare this to your situation. I'd just call and ask.

Good points guys, thanks for the input. I should have called right off the bat, guess I didn't because it is not as big an issue as I have framed it to be. Not to mention I am reminding myself that this is not my bimmer! It is hers so she should get what suits her needs. So hard not to get invloved in every family bimmer purchase I will let everyone know how the search turns out

From my VIN....
The initial policy was written as a 50i. When I got my renewal, the cost increased. I called to see why it went up and as they were going through the details they said 2010 X6 ///M. I said no, they said yes. I told them I'd get something from BMW stating that I did not have the ///M. They already had the sticker which says 50i but they didn't care. When they put in my VIN number it comes up as the ///M. I never volunteered that I had the 7RR but that must be what triggered it.

Damn, if I knew I would have went for the 550hp instead of the 440.
