iPod difficulties with iDrive

Hi,

I have an iPod classic with 5000+ tracks and it seems to me that the recent iDrives dont cope well with that many. Does anyone know anymore abut this issue ? The symptons I see are intermittent hangs of the ipod connection where it will not respond or play anything. Sometimes it gets to the point that the iDrive just reports iPod disconnected.

It seems not to be related to the iPod as I can disconnect and it works fine, reset it and plug it back in and the problem persists. Stop the car turn off and let that reset and it normally fixes the issue.

I have seen posts from others about this in other forums but with no answers or conclusions. They report it as specifically an iPod Classic issue with iDrive but I think thats because the other iPods dont have so much storage to cause the iDrive an issue....

Any info appreciated.

Sorry the car I am having this issue with is a 2012 E91 3 series.
