2010 first issue Random Misfire etc.
I'm new to this forum. I'm usually at the m5board. I thought I'd post my first issue I had with the X. I purchased it about 6 months ago with 48kmi., current mileage is 58k.
A few days ago when I started it in the morning it was shaking like it was misfiring and sure enough as soon as I started backing up the CEL came on and the "reduced power" warning. I turned it off and turned it back on and the car ran perfectly fine. Then a few days after that the same occurred, however, this time it was worse and felt like more than one cylinder was misfiring. So, I tried the same trick turning it off and back on and nothing the same thing. The it started smoking and I could smell gas coming out of the tail pipe. So I pulled the cheap obd reader and pulled the codes. Here is the list that pulled up: ![]() P0300 P0302 P0303 P0305 P0306 P0307 P0308 P0603 P0703 P07E8 P0E43 P015EF I wasn't able to find out what all of them were and didn't really bother searching much as I smelled gas and knew that it wasn't firing on several cylinders. However, I did read a few of the stories with the fuel injector issued and thought that may be a possibility. I decided to try the first thing and check the coils. I have all the records for the vehicle from new and I know that the only thing ignition related that was done was one coil that failed several years ago and spark plugs were changed at about 46kmi. Before removing the coils I reset all the codes drove the car and checked again this time I only had the cylinder 8 misfire code and bank 1 too rich code. The firs coil I pulled was #8 and sure enough it was bad. Attached are a few pictures. When I pulled the rest I found that #7 and #3 were bad as well. I decided to replace all of them. Ordered new Bosch coils from rockauto for about $29/each. Just replaced them tonight, test drove the car and had no issues. It seems like it's running a little better than before. Hopefully that's all it was!!!!! |
