I've not driven the Porsche Cayanne Turbo/S but did drive the MB, previous gen Jeep SRT and the X5M.

No one is steering me away from the BMW at this point and it's still my 1st choice for SUV replacement if I go that way.

Hey stranger -

I miss my '13 X6M every day. The current generation isn't as beastly. The transmission is smoother, more gadgets and tech stuff but I preferred the basics in the previous generation. The stance, suspension, steering and comfort. My '16 X6M just doesn't feel as solid as the '13. The new seats are no where near as comfortable as the multi contour in the E70/71.

And beware of the brake squeal on the new X5/X6 Ms. It's makes my ears bleed. A lot of owners have wheel bearing issues that haven't been resolved. So far, 8000 miles, I have the brake squeal but no bearing issues.

Make sure you test drive first.

Good luck.

Hey you - thanks for the insights. I had no idea about the differences being so big. I'm going to take my time but it seems clear that it is going to make sense to get out of my 4.8is. I love it but the costs outside of the extended warranty are a pain in the ass.
