Mystery "X" Something Spotted At Performance Center

Hey guys I had a little excitement this week at the PC track.First, let me tell you I'm not sure what Forum to post at because I'm not real sure what I saw that day.The mods can copy this over to the 2nd Gen X5 Forum because it probably applies over there as well.I also know this post is worthless w/o pics or a vid.I do have a very short, very poor quality vid I'll post when I get it to YouTube.Unfortunately, your ace spy pic guy got a very bad case of "Buck Fever" when I saw the subject car.I had a dentist appt this wk and on the way back home thought I would make one quick pass by the plant because it's suppose to rain alot this wk and I've gotten pretty busy w/ work stuff.I drove by the main delivery gate on my way to the area I shoot from at the PC track.I see a light greenish/silverish X5 ( I think) pull up to the main road w/ it's flashers on (that alone should have been a dead giveaway it was a preproduction prototype),they drive those cars around the plant w/ the flashers on and very slowly. The X5 or whatever it was appeared to have some sort of body cladding package afixed to the car.Not as in camo, but like an aero body package.THE most distinguishing item I saw on the car was the exhaust tips. They were very angular,as in shaped like a triangle. Not an abbreviated rectangle like w/ the X5/X6 but an absolute triangle design that appeared to be made of aluminum and they wrapped around to the side of the car.Very large exhaust tips.By the time my dumbass brain fully engaged ( and the buck fever moment passed) the car had shot ahead of me and turned into the rear of the Performance Center Bld.I figured all might not be lost, maybe it will make a pass or two on the PC track.Well,I wait longer than I had intended to,in hopes this mystery machine would appear.Several diesel X5's and one 35i X6 did make a couple of passes.I had actually climbed down from the berm that I stand on and was just about ready to leave.Well, I see those tell tell daylight running lamps at the end of the track and decide to wait and see what comes down the track.Sure enough it's this mystery car.It makes one slow to mid speed pass,a lady driving and a guy in the backseat w/ what looks like a huge computer screen.I still had deer fever, but got a short clip. The car made no sound that I could discern (hybrid anyone.....).Stick w/ me I'm almost finished. Here is the VERY interesting part!!!! Not 3 mins after that car disappeared back up the track,a black X5 w/ it's flashers going came from the Performance Center Bld and slowly drove right up to where I stand. The X5 could not cross the fence that separates the BMW property from where I stand on City property.I stand at the end of a public street that was closed when the PC was built. The X5 drove very slowly pass me and then headed back up the track to the PC Bld.No one got out of the X5 or said anything to me.They clearly were trying to intimidate me and make sure I was not on BMW property ( I was not).Anyway, that is the ONLY time that has ever happened given all the hrs I have stood at that point and shot pics and vids. The point of this very long story is that whatever I saw that day BMW did not like prying eyes getting a look.I stood a little longer, but the car never reappeared. My guess is this is an X5 hybrid prototype ( you got to believe BMW will build an X5 hybrid) it just makes to much sense not to.Or this car is actually the X6 hybrid drivetrain w/ a temporary X5 body affixed for max camo effect. Or maybe the X5"M" prototype, even though at a slow speed on the track, it was just to quiet to be an "M" model.I'm not competely sold on the idea it's the X6 because they are riding around Germany w/ the X6 body and the big powerdome.( Everyone assumes that is the hybrid X6-maybe not???) The hood did not appear to have any sort of powerdome that I could see. I'm just not real sure what it is that I saw that day.All I know is that BMW DID NOT like me taking pics or vids of the car.I will be on the lookout for this vehicle.Thanks. PalBay

May be it an Active Hybrid Drive X5?! I always wondered why they plan to introduce that Hybrid technology in the X6 instead of the X5?

It certainly not an X6 as they do have X6 bodies available now in good supply. Looks more like performance X5.
