I guess I'll chime in ....I hate to say it, but I also think it looks weak. I think it's all of the color keyed trim and the lack of running boards. ///M wheels are starting to lose that certain appeal they used to have. The E53 4.6/4.8is looks much more aggressive. Half of the attraction is the look. We all know the engine and handling will be great. But it doesn't scream "move B**ch get out the way". I'm sure some tuner will come up with a kit to help the look. I think BMW missed a great opportunity here. They should've put the ///M badge on the E53.........Phil

I think that the color is throwing us off. How many people (outside of Dubai, LA, and Miami) will actually buy a Lemans Blue truck, but I think that in Black Sapphire, with a decent set of BMW rims, the car would be quite a looker... maybe... For my 80K, I'm heading down to my dealer who has a leftover '08 loaded Black Sapphire 4.8i sport, AND the Z4M sitting next to it for the bends.

When owners can paint matching color on wheel arches and door rubber trims, I am sure they can paint them black to bring back the aggressiveness.
I do agree there is too much color and that's why I think black or dark blue will look good.

You may also be disappointed in the transmission. It isn't reported to be a double clutch manual, but rather a standard automatic with torque converter. And the M button isn't reported to add any HP, but simply change the throttle response and transmission settings.

I wouldn't make any statements until I see X5 M in person. For me X6 style headlights is already huge scoring point, they look much better than bulky headlights of regular X5. BTW, quad exhaust which located closer to the center (like on old E53) is another winning detail for X5 M.

I know it might sound silly but I think the ///M is missing some trim features that would really give it more presence. And since those items are standard on the 4.8i, I'm a little surprised they don't exist on the ///M.. Maybe they will be added before delivery or an option?

get used to it... all X5s are going to have it now...

What the ///M needs is a darker color, lowered suspension, and definitely better rims. I would say aero kit too but that's not something they'd make standard even on an M. I personally don't think the rails or running boards do THAT much for the aggressive look. The matching colored trims are boring indeed.

I was thinking the exact same thing. What kills me is they didn't incorporate any fog lights - to me fog lights should be on any "sport" model vehicle.
